Fleetwood DeVille was born Nicholas Allan Lampkin on December 29, 1988, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Since learning songs by ear on his grandparents' piano, singing tenor in his church's youth choir, and playing drums during praise service, Fleetwood has held an unshakeable bond with music. Between those early exposures, and the encouragement of his older cousins throughout the 2000s in St. Louis, Fleetwood developed a curiosity which blossomed into a passion for hip hop.
Fleetwood moved to D.C. in 2009 and it was a chance encounter with the Philly native Right Mind 215, at DC's legendary Spit Dat open mic, which would shift his course indelibly. Introductions to the Ill Street Grooves crew at DC WPFW 89.3 FM helped birth the emcee collective known as FAR Exp (Flex Mathews, Fleetwood DeVille, Ardamus, RNL, and Redhead). The outfit released three projects, including the 2014 album Vol. 3 The Expansion, and performed at DC staples such as Rock & Roll Hotel, Black Cat, U Street Music Hall, and Kennedy Center, among many others.
Since 2013, Fleetwood DeVille has been curator and co-host of RECON (formerly The Dojo Expansion), a music initiative which has programmed shows on both coasts since its inception. In December 2015, Fleetwood embarked on the inaugural run of his self-funded DSGA DECEMBER tour series, which touched Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO, Springfield, IL, and St. Louis, MO, in its first stint; Fleetwood played shows in Los Angeles, Pensacola, FL, New Orleans, LA, Atlanta, GA, and Birmingham, AL, and more during its 2016 installment.
Fleetwood's first EP of original material While I Was Asleep was released in July 2013. In April 2017, Fleetwood released his first LP, Grub Related, to all major digital platforms. His second album, TRAFFIC, was released on September 18, 2017, and he plans to tour again nationally in 2017.
